Dog Walking in Rawhiti Domain

Marine Parade and Shaw Ave, New Brighton

Rawhiti domain is a massive forested area with so much to do for all who visit. There is a dedicated, fenced dog walking park for the dogs to get plenty of socialisation and playtime with other furry friends. The area is huge with plenty of space to sprint around madly, tree stumps to jump up on and trees to weave in and out of. There is an agility area with an a-frame, tunnel and beam.

There is so much to do for human children too. In one area of the domain there is a peaceful picnic area where you can sit up to a table for lunch or spread out a picnic blanket. The kids can slide down the huge slide, roll down hills, climb up on huge tree stumps or play in the playground to burn off energy. After that they can explore the many tracks and wooded alcoves for a round of hide and seek or to find the perfect ‘hideout’ which my two love to do.

The more energetic can get on a mountain bike to explore, take your pick of the paved tracks or go off-road. The archery club practice here and today the tennis courts had children driving remote controlled cars at top speed. There is a very nice tennis court as well which is possibly only open to club members.

All in all a fantastic place to spend a few hours on a weekend afternoon with something to keep everyone entertained.
