Dog Walking at Bottle Lake Forest

Waitakiri Drive, Burwood or the end of Bower Ave.

This is one of our favourite spots, we find ourselves wandering the beautiful, peaceful forest tracks 2 – 3 times a week. It’s great on rainy days as you can escape under the pine canopy where is it very sheltered from the wind and rain.

I usually park at the Broadhaven Reserve entrance at the end of Bower Ave so we can walk along the track to the left then back through the forest. We are able to end our adventure with a spot of ball to wear out any remaining energy. There is a playground here and lots of space for human children to run around too.

There is no designated dog park at Bottle Lake Forest Park so there is no fenced area, however it is a popular place for dog owners to walk with their dogs. Dogs don’t have to be on a leash but they must have good recall so as not to approach other dogs on leashes. The Bottle Lake Forest track winds through 1000 hectares of pine forest and is mostly flat.

There are two mountain bike rides that are suitable for the whole family, there is the Family Loop ride (approximately 7km) or the coastal ride to Spencer Park (10km round trip)
